We’ve always been more the Christmas card types. You know: buy the cards, write something short and sweet for each of our friends, lick the stamps, drop ‘em in the mail. That’s us. Most of you probably already know the routine, since you are veterans of the Morrow Christmas Card List. We don’t send pictures of ourselves, or our kids (in our case a runt black lab mix mutt who is named after our 40th U.S. President). And, until this year, we didn’t send “the Christmas Letter."
So, why now? Have our lives become so fascinating that we couldn’t deprive our dearest friends of the privilege of an update… about us? Um… no. Or, are we streamlining the Christmas Card process? Uh, no again. In fact, all we’ve done is add The Letter to the above process (which now is: buy, write, compose and insert The Letter, lick, and drop). Actually, it has very little to do with us. It has more to do with many of you. You see, we’ve noticed how much we like catching up on family and friends via their own versions of The Letter, and thought we’d give it a whirl.
Headline #1: Still Not Pregnant. We put that one in mainly for the Moms. They think it will take an Abraham-Sarah-caliber miracle if we wait much longer, but we like taking our time (still very much enjoy receiving baby pictures from friends, though, so keep ‘em coming). But, we were proud this year to become Aunt Rachael and Uncle Matt for a second time. Matt’s sister, Missy, and her husband Brady are the proud parents of Jackson Brady. Jack was born on June 26 and immediately qualified for the heavyweight division of Golden Gloves (9 lbs. 11 oz). We are expecting our third niece or nephew in May. Rachael’s sister, Samantha, and her husband are expecting again.
Headline #2: Nomads! Yes, this August we sold our cozy little home on Dove Valley. We then began building a new home. It’s a little less cozy, and kind of drafty right now. It should be ready sometime mid-February, but who really knows? In the meantime, we moved in with the parents in Bolivar. Anyway, they have been quite patient with us, and we are thankful.
On a related note, get your address books and palmpilots ready. Current address (until the new home is complete) is: 2025 E. Thornridge Circle; Bolivar, MO 65613. Future address (after the new home is complete) is: 4050 W. Page Place; Springfield, MO 65802. We love hearing from our loved ones, so please stay in touch.
Matt is entering his third year as Executive Officer of the Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield. During his time there, the HBA has developed a political action committee to support local (mainly Republican) candidates. Suuuu-prise. And, those within ears’ reach of Springfield AM radio can hear his weekly “Just About Home” radio program, Saturday mornings on 1260 AM.
Rachael is completing her fourth year as Human Resources Director at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar. One upside to the temporary digs is the just-as-temporary reprieve Rachael gets from the daily commute to Bolivar from Springfield. In addition to her responsibilities keeping up with more than three hundred full-time employees, she was appointed this year to the Missouri Workforce Investment Board and began a term as the chair of the education committee of the Springfield Area Human Resources Association.
Reagan had a minor mental breakdown following her move to the farm in Houston. That’s where she is during our winter of dislocation. She stopped eating, made a permanent residence under the porch and tried to run away. Fortunately, she was recovered a few miles from home. We planned to move her Bolivar, but her puppy psychologist doesn’t think she can take three moves in one year. She has a delicate psyche.
We have been very blessed this year, and are grateful for the mercies God continues to grant to us. During this holiday season, we pray your family will experience the joy that comes from having a personal relationship with the reason we celebrate this season, Jesus. And, we are, of course, so grateful to have such wonderful friends and family. Merry Christmas to all of you, and God’s richest blessing on your New Year.
